Achievements Plugin for MyBB

MYBB PLUGIN free
Not rated yet Be the first

Ten automatic milestone badges — posts, threads, hours online, tenure — on profiles and a Hall.

Achievements for MyBB 1.8 that award themselves. Ten badges cover what members actually do — first post, post and thread counts, hours online, a 30-day service badge and a Credits milestone — and they are granted the moment MyBB shows a profile, so there is no cron job to trust and nothing to queue.

Earned badges appear on the member's profile with the date they landed, and the whole set lives in an Achievements Hall with locked and earned states, a progress bar and a live feed of the newest badges across the board.

Built on two plugin hooks and a single template variable: no core edits, no settings page, and an uninstall that drops its own table and tidies the template after itself.

What's included

  • Ten milestones that award themselves: first post, 25, 100 and 500 posts, 10 and 50 threads, 24 and 240 hours online, a 30-day service badge and 1,000 Credits.
  • Badge strip on every member profile: each earned badge with the date it landed, plus an Achievements · 6/10 counter.
  • A dedicated Achievements Hall at misc.php?action=df_achievements — earned and locked states, a progress bar, and the newest badges from the whole community.
  • No cron job and nothing queued: the check runs when a profile or the hall is opened, so shared hosting is fine.
  • Awards are written with INSERT IGNORE on (member, badge), so a badge can never be awarded twice and the first date sticks.
  • Two hooks and one template variable — no core file edits, nothing to re-apply after a MyBB upgrade.
  • When Credits is installed the profile strip gains a credits chip and the Treasurer badge switches on by itself.
  • Banned and not-yet-activated members are left out of the community feed.
  • Uninstall drops its table and removes the template insert, leaving nothing behind.

  • PHP 7.4 or newer (8.x is fine; the plugin adds no extension requirements).

Install it

1. Upload inc/plugins/df_achieve.php to inc/plugins/ on the server.
2. Admin CP → Configuration → Plugins → Install & Activate. That creates its dfachie table and adds the profile hook.
3. Nothing to configure — the ten milestones ship inside the file.
4. Optional: install DF Credits first if you want the Treasurer badge and the credits chip.
5. To remove: Deactivate (keeps every award), then Uninstall (drops the table and the template insert).

Questions people ask

Does it need a cron job or a queue?

No. Badges are checked when a member profile is opened and when the Achievements Hall is loaded. Nothing runs in the background and nothing is scheduled.

Can a badge be awarded twice, or the date reset?

No. Awards are written with INSERT IGNORE against a (uid, code) primary key, so the first award keeps its slot and its original date even if the member later drops below a threshold.

What counts for the hours-online badges?

MyBB's own timeonline counter, which the board already maintains — 24 hours (86,400 seconds) for Day Owl, 240 hours for Forum Native. No extra tracking code.

Does it work without Credits?

Yes. Nine of the ten badges read core MyBB counters. Treasurer (1,000 credits) needs Credits installed, and stays locked until that column exists.

Can I change the thresholds or add my own badges?

Not in 2.0.0 — the ten milestones live in the plugin file, so every board gets the same set. Editing that file is a supported change as long as you keep your copy for the next update.

Does it slow the board down?

Normal forum pages run no plugin code at all. A profile view adds one SELECT plus up to ten INSERT IGNOREs; the hall adds one feed query.

What happens when I uninstall it?

The badge table is dropped and the template insert is removed. Deactivate first if you only want it off for a while — deactivating keeps every award.
