AutoClose Plugin for MyBB
MYBB
PLUGIN
free
Nightly, it locks the threads that have gone quiet — so your old forums stop collecting replies to 2019.
Long-running boards accumulate forums where the conversation ended years ago. AutoClose gives those threads a dignified close, on a schedule, without anyone remembering to do it.
What it gives you:
• A real MyBB scheduled task, visible in Admin CP → Tools → Task Manager, running nightly at 03:00.
• Three settings: master switch, idle threshold in days (default 30) and a comma-separated forum list (empty means every forum).
• Moved-redirect shadows and hidden or unapproved threads are never touched — a belt-and-braces string comparison, because MySQL's number coercion would happily match redirects otherwise.
• A hard cap of 100 locks per run, with the count written to the MyBB task log so you can see exactly what happened.
• Non-destructive: these are ordinary locks, so a moderator can reopen any thread at any time.
This is the 2.0 line, rebuilt as a versioned release from the deployed source; the original 1.x/1.1 archive was not recoverable.

Questions people ask
Will it close a thread that is exactly on the boundary?
A thread sitting exactly at midnight on the threshold is caught on the following run, which is the safe side.
Does it touch moved threads or redirects?
No. Redirect shadows and hidden or unapproved threads are excluded by an explicit string comparison.
Can I undo a lock?
Yes — these are ordinary locks. Any moderator can reopen a thread, and uninstalling does not reopen anything by itself.
