Opens a real welcome thread the moment someone registers — written in their own name.
A new member's first sight of the board should not be an empty index. Greeter opens a welcome thread for them, authored by them, through MyBB's own post handler.
What it gives you:
• Hooks registration and creates a real thread in the forum you choose, using the core post data handler — so flood checks, counters and permissions behave exactly as they would for a human post.
• The thread is authored by the new member: it is genuinely their first post, in their name.
• Subject and message support {username} and {bbname} tokens, resolved for each registration.
• Skips quietly if the forum is closed, missing, or the switch is off — no errors on a half-configured board.
• Oversized subjects are trimmed to the core limit, so validation never rejects a welcome.
This is the 2.0 line, rebuilt as a versioned release from the deployed source; the original 1.x archive was not recoverable.

Requirements
- MyBB 1.8.40 is the tested target.
- PHP 8.1 or newer (runtime tested on 8.4.26).
- A forum you want the welcome threads to land in, and its ID.
- Test custom themes, SSO, CAPTCHA and mail integrations independently.

1. Back up your files and database first.
2. Upload the inc/ folder from the archive into your MyBB root, keeping the paths.
3. Admin CP → Configuration → Plugins → Install & Activate.
4. Admin CP → Configuration → Settings → DF Greeter: enable switch, intros forum ID, welcome subject and message ({username} and {bbname} work in both).

Questions people ask
Does the welcome thread count as the member's post?
Yes. It is created through the core post handler and authored by them, so their post count and permissions behave normally.
What happens if the intros forum is closed?
The plugin skips quietly. No thread, no error, no half-written state.
Does it need any database tables?
No. It is stateless and uses four settings.
