Hour kings, top posters, topic starters and newest faces — an index strip plus a full Hall of Climbers page.

A live index strip with the leading members, plus a full leaderboard page (misc.php?action=df_leaderboard) covering hours online, top posters, topic starters and newest members, with a three-place podium at the top.

• Gives quiet boards a visible scoreboard that costs nothing to run.
• Reads existing tables — no data duplication, no custom tables.
• Which usergroups never appear is a setting (5 and 7 by default), not hardcoded SQL.
• Deactivate removes the index strip; uninstall also removes the page template and the setting.

Rebuilt as a versioned release from the source deployed on Data-Forums — the 1.x archive was not recoverable, so this is the honest 2.0 line rather than a lost original.

Tested on MyBB 1.8.38 / PHP 8.3.24 / MariaDB 11.8.6, on a board with four members including a banned one.

What's included

  • An index-page strip with the current leaders, plus a full board at misc.php?action=df_leaderboard with a three-place podium.
  • Ranks on data MyBB already keeps: hours online, posts written, topics started and join date. No custom tables.
  • The usergroups that never appear (awaiting activation and banned by default) are a setting, not hardcoded SQL — only digits survive it.
  • Signed-in members get their own standing pill; guests do not.
  • Deactivate removes the strip; uninstall removes the strip, the page template and the setting.

Requirements

  • MyBB 1.8.x — the series this release is built for (1.8.38 for the ones we re-tested).
  • PHP 7.4 or newer (8.x is fine).

Install it

1. Upload inc/plugins/df_leaderboard.php to inc/plugins/ from the archive.
2. Admin CP -> Configuration -> Plugins -> Install & Activate. That creates the page template, plants {$df_leaderboard_home} above {$forums} on the index and adds the setting.
3. Configuration -> Settings -> DF Leaderboard sets which usergroups are left out (5,7 by default).
4. The full page lives at misc.php?action=df_leaderboard.
5. To remove it: Deactivate removes the strip; Deactivate + Uninstall also removes the template, the setting and its group.

Questions people ask

Does it create database tables?

No. It reads what the platform already stores, so there is nothing to migrate or clean up.

Does it edit templates or core files?

Yes — one template insert in index, and no core file edit. Deactivating removes it again.

How do I check the file I downloaded?

Every release page prints a SHA-256 checksum. Hash the archive locally and compare — if the two differ, the download is damaged, not the release.

How are updates delivered?

Each version is its own release on this page with a changelog, and the older archive stays available. Install the new one over the old one; your settings and data stay where they are.

v2.0.1 latest 25 Oct 2026 22.1 KB 1 Install, is_installed and uninstall now exist. 2.0.0 only had activate and deactivate, so the page template was never registered as installed state and uninstalling it left the template behind.

Excluded usergroups moved out of the SQL. usergroup NOT IN (5,7) was hardcoded in two queries while the file header claimed it also excluded a house bot and test accounts - which the code never did. The list is now a setting under Configuration > Settings > DF Leaderboard, and only digits survive it.

The full page is readable on light themes. The Hall of Climbers used light-on-dark type against whatever background the theme provides, so on the stock white theme its heading was almost invisible; the page now draws its own dark surface.

Also: activation called a cache method that does not exist in MyBB 1.8 and threw a fatal error; gone. The page template's version field is 1838, not 1840.

Proven on a clean MyBB 1.8.38 install: strip on the index, Hall of Climbers page with podium and four boards, a banned member absent from both, the member's own standing pill for signed-in users only, and a deactivate/uninstall that leaves no template, setting or group behind.
