The first image of every thread, as a small rounded thumbnail beside the subject.
A list of thread titles tells you what a thread is called. A thumbnail tells you what it looks like — and on a busy board that is often the difference between a click and a scroll.
What it gives you:
• A 44-pixel rounded thumbnail beside each thread row, resolved from that thread's first image.
• An honest priority order: the first visible image attachment wins, and only when there is none does the first [img] in the opening post apply.
• Per-thread results — including the "no image" answer — are cached in MyBB's datacache for six hours, so this costs one lookup rather than a query per row.
• Lazy-loaded with an onerror failsafe, so a dead image URL hides itself instead of showing a broken icon.
• Zero tables, zero settings, and no template edits.
This is the 2.0 line, rebuilt as a versioned release from the deployed source; the original 1.x/1.1 archive was not recoverable.

Requirements
- MyBB 1.8.40 is the tested target.
- PHP 8.1 or newer (runtime tested on 8.4.27).
- The stock forumdisplay thread row, since the thumbnail rides its gotounread slot.
- Nothing to configure.

1. Back up your files and database first.
2. Upload the inc/ folder from the archive into your MyBB root, keeping the paths.

Questions people ask
Where does the thumbnail come from?
The first visible image attachment in the thread. Only when there is no attachment does it fall back to the first [img] in the opening post.
Will it slow my forum down?
No. Per-thread answers are cached for six hours in the datacache, so it is one lookup rather than a query per row.
What if the image is hosted elsewhere and disappears?
The onerror failsafe hides the thumbnail, so readers never see a broken image icon.
