Members subscribe to keywords and get a message the second one appears on the board.
Plenty of members do not want to follow a thread — they want to follow a subject. Watchwords lets them name the words they care about and be told when a post uses them.
What it gives you:
• A personal watchlist page where each member adds up to twenty words, shown as removable chips, all through CSRF-checked posts.
• Whole-word, case-insensitive matching — watching "ganesha" does not fire on "ganeshashop".
• An alert message lands in the same second the word appears in a new thread or a reply, with a link to the post.
• No self-alerts: your own posts never ping you.
• One clean table with a unique key on member and word, so adding the same word twice is a harmless no-op.
This is the 2.0 line, rebuilt as a versioned release from the deployed source; the original 1.x archive was not recoverable.

Requirements
- MyBB 1.8.40 is the tested target.
- PHP 8.1 or newer (runtime tested on 8.4.27).
- Private messaging enabled, since alerts arrive as private messages.
- A word list your members will actually find useful — that part is up to them.

1. Back up your files and database first.
2. Upload the inc/ folder from the archive into your MyBB root, keeping the paths.
3. Admin CP → Configuration → Plugins → Install & Activate — this creates the table.
4. No settings. Members manage words at misc.php?action=df_watchwords.

Questions people ask
Does it match inside longer words?
No. Matching is whole-word, so a watch on "ganesha" stays quiet on "ganeshashop".
Will I be alerted about my own posts?
Never. Your own posts do not trigger your own alerts.
One alert per post, or a digest?
One alert per watcher per matching post — there is no digesting, by design.
