Install it

1. Upload the df-ai-assistant/ directory to your MyBB root via FTP
2. ACP → Plugins & Styles → Plugin Manager → Install Plugin
3. Browse to dfai.php and click Install Now
4. Activate the plugin
5. Settings → search 'DF AI' → set Enable to Yes
6. Enter your API endpoint, key, and model
7. Configure individual features (titles, tags, spam, etc.)
8. ACP → DF AI Assistant → Test API to verify

What does DF AI Forum Assistant do?

It adds AI-powered content features to your MyBB forum. It can auto-generate thread titles from post content, create summaries for long threads, suggest tags, detect spam before it goes live, classify posts into categories, prioritize your moderation queue, generate FAQ entries from popular threads, send welcome messages to new members, and suggest related threads on thread pages.

Does it require an API key?

Yes. It uses any OpenAI-compatible API — OpenAI, OpenRouter, or a local LLM. You enter the endpoint URL and API key in the ACP settings. The key is stored in MyBB settings, never exposed to the frontend.

How much does it cost to run?

That depends on your AI provider and usage. With the default rate limit of 30 calls per day, a typical OpenAI gpt-4o-mini setup costs pennies per month. You can adjust the rate limit and model in the ACP.

Does it edit MyBB core files?

No. The plugin uses MyBB hooks only. No core files are modified. Uninstalling removes all traces — the database table is dropped, settings are removed, and templates are deleted.

How does spam detection work?

When a new post is submitted, the AI analyzes the content and returns a spam confidence score. If the score exceeds your threshold (default 0.7), the post is flagged. High-confidence spam (0.9+) is automatically hidden. Moderators see a warning with the AI's reasoning.

Can I turn off individual features?

Yes. Each feature has its own toggle in the ACP settings. You can enable titles but disable spam detection, or enable tags but disable welcome messages. Everything is configurable.

What happens on uninstall?

The dfai_log database table is dropped, all settings are removed, the template is deleted, and the plugin hooks are unregistered. No trace remains.
