A dismissible announcement bar at the top of every page.
One line of text, right at the top of the board, that members can dismiss once and never see again on that device.
What it gives you:
• A slim dark bar above the page body with your message and a ✕ dismiss button.
• Dismissal is remembered in the browser (localStorage), so the bar stays hidden after the first close — no cookies, no database writes.
• The message comes from a board configuration value (df_notice_text) and falls back to "Welcome to our community!" when it is not set.
Honest note: this extension ships no ACP settings page, so changing the text means setting the df_notice_text config value (or editing the extension's listener). That is a one-line change, but it is a code change rather than a settings screen.
Verified before publishing: structure matches phpBB's extension format, PHP passes a PHP 8.3 syntax check, and the template hook (overall_header_page_body_before) exists in stock phpBB 3.3.15.

1. Upload dataforums/noticebar into your phpBB ext/ directory (path: ext/dataforums/noticebar).
2. Admin Control Panel → Customise → Manage extensions.
3. Enable DF Notice Bar and purge the cache.

How does a member turn the bar off?
They press the ✕. The choice is stored in that browser, so it stays gone on that device.
Is there a settings screen for the message?
Not in this version. The text comes from the df_notice_text config value; the page you are reading says so deliberately rather than implying a settings page exists.
Does dismissal use cookies?
No. It is localStorage only, so nothing is sent to the server.
