Redirect Manager Plugin for WordPress

WORDPRESS PLUGIN free
Not rated yet Be the first

301 and 302 redirects with a hit counter, a 404 log and search-and-replace over old URLs. No .htaccess edits.

Redirect Manager keeps old addresses working without touching .htaccess. Add a source path and a target, pick 301, 302 or 307, and the plugin serves it from the database - with a hit counter and the date of the last hit on every row.

It also records the pages that 404, most requested first, so you fix the addresses people actually ask for instead of guessing. The query string is carried across automatically, which matters for campaign links, and a search-and-replace pass rewrites every stored redirect in one go after a folder or domain move.

Matching runs on template_redirect, after WordPress has decided what the request is, so it never touches the admin, the REST API, cron, feeds or previews. A target must be a path on this site or a URL on the same host: another host is refused, so the table can never be used to bounce your visitors somewhere else.

Install it

1. Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose df-redirect-manager-1.0.2-784f07d2.zip, Install Now, then Activate. Both tables are created for you.
2. Open Tools > DF Redirects, type the old path and the target, pick 301 and save. It is live immediately.
3. Look at "Most requested missing pages" for the 404s people actually hit, and redirect the ones that should still work.
4. After a folder or domain move, use Search and replace to rewrite every stored redirect in one pass.

Questions people ask

Do I need to touch .htaccess?

No. Redirects live in the database and are served by WordPress itself, so they survive a server move and cannot break the site with a bad rule.

Will it redirect logged-in admins by accident?

It runs on the front end only, and never on admin screens, the REST API, cron, feeds, previews or any non-GET request.

Can it send visitors to another website?

No. A target on a different host is refused on purpose, which also means the table cannot be abused as an open redirector.

Will the hit counter lose counts under load?

No. Each hit is a single UPDATE that increments the column in the database, not a read-then-write in PHP, so two visitors at the same moment both count. Two hits were recorded from two requests on the bench.

What happens when I delete the plugin?

uninstall.php drops both tables and deletes both options - the database goes back to how it was before the plugin existed.

VersionReleasedSizeDownloadsChangelog
v1.0.2 latest 25 Oct 2026 17.7 KB 0 1.0.2 - Re-verified on WordPress 7.1.3 with PHP 8.4: installed, activated and exercised on a clean bench (front end, settings screen, the plugin's own behaviour) with WP_DEBUG on. No notices, warnings, deprecations or errors. readme.txt now declares Tested up to 7.1.3.
v1.0.1 25 Oct 2026 18.4 KB 1 Removed the `Update URI` header. WordPress.org's automated scan reads that header as a third-party updater (plugin_updater_detected); updates are served by WordPress.org, so the header has no place in a hosted plugin. No change to how the plugin works.
v1.0.0 25 Oct 2026 17.8 KB 2 - First public release.
