A dismissible announcement bar at the top of every page.
One line of text, right at the top of the board, that a member can dismiss once and never see again on that device.
What it gives you:
- A slim dark bar above the page body, in the same gold-on-navy family as the rest of the collection.
- A close button that remembers the choice in the visitor's own browser with localStorage - no cookie to explain, no database write, no session touched.
- The message is plain text in the template modification, so nothing a member can type ever ends up in it.
Change the message by editing the one line in Appearance > Template modifications; that is the whole configuration.

Requirements

- PHP 7.4 or newer (the Setup class is syntax-checked on PHP 8.4)
- The stock PAGE_CONTAINER template, so the p-body anchor is present
- A browser with localStorage - every current browser has it

1. Admin CP > Add-ons > Install from archive, choose df-xenforo-notice-bar-1.0.0.zip, then Install.
2. Edit Appearance > Template modifications > DF Notice Bar > dfxf_noticebar_bar and replace the sample sentence with your own.
3. Save, then reload any page - the bar is at the top, above the page body.
4. To remove it: Uninstall the add-on. The modification goes with it and nothing was ever stored on the server.

Questions people ask
How does a member turn the bar off?
They press the close button. The choice is stored in that browser, so the bar stays gone on that device and comes back on a new one. Is it a cookie? No. It is a localStorage key, so it is never sent to the server and there is nothing to disclose in a cookie notice. Can I show it only to guests? Yes - wrap the bar in <xf:if is="!$xf.visitor.user_id"> ... </xf:if> inside the template modification.
